Marks Varme AB, modified fuel feeding and grate carpet
During a short 10 days plant stop in November 2007, the fuel feeding and the combustion system at one Biomass line at the Assbergsverket was upgrated by Dublix Engineering. Assbergsverket, owned and operated by Marks Varme AB (www.marksvarme.se), is located in the city of Skene in the vestern part of Sweden near Gotenburg. The plant is operating two Biomass combustion lines based on wood chips. The original now upgrated line was based on the Volund Combustion System with a flat grate structure, the plant has been in operation since 1999. This line has a capacity of 10 MWt hot water export to the District heating system in the City of Skene. The city needs more District Heating capacity and Dublix Engineering has recently during a plant audit identified various optimization opportunities.
The goal for this modification was to improve the combustion stability and to increase the plant capacity the following improvements were implemented
- Modified biofuel feed baffel wall
- Modified feeding grate operation
- Reorganized grate surface
Dublix Engineering provided specialist combustion competances and supplied new grate parts based from Thepa ApS (www.thepa.dk).
The result of the implemented modifications showed that the combustion was heavily improved and the environmental load was reduced, the client expressed his full satisfaction with the results.
